We would like to express our deep gratitude as guests on Coast Salish lands, here in Lushootseed Country. As one of our first art activations on our new South Seattle site, the yəhaw̓ collective commissioned artists from local tribes to create yard signs uplifting their cultural values. For the month of December, 2023, signs will be available outside at 9666 51st Ave South in Rainier Beach. Visitors are invited to take a sign home with them as a gift. Thank you to the many Coast Salish culture carriers we have had the pleasure to work with, and the many more we will work with into the future.

Artworks were created by Kate k̓yʔk̓ablu Neayuq Ahvakana (Suquamish and Iñupiaq), Tyson Simmons (Muckleshoot), Camille Trautman (Duwamish), and Denise Emerson (Skokomish and Navajo). Language translation services were provided by the Muckleshoot and Suquamish language programs, as well as the University of Washington. Graphic design support for printing preparation was provided by Pei Pei Sung.

#SeattleTogether

See the yard signs we made in 2020 with the City of Seattle at yehawshow.com/seattletogether. We gratefully acknowledge the late Kristen Ramirez, a visionary artist and arts administrator, who created the first iteration of this project during the Covid pandemic.
