yəhaw̓ artists Randi Purser (Suquamish) and Erik Sanchez (Shoalwater Bay) will be highlighted in an exhibition at the Suquamish Museum opening April 20, 2019.
Randi Purser is a tribal elder of the Suquamish Tribe. She has been carving for almost 10 years now, most of those with Duane Pasco as her mentor from whom she learns the traditional disciplines of all the regional styles. “I am truly blessed to be a part of this art form”.
Erik Sanchez (Shoalwater Bay, Chinook, and Mexican-American) is a Pacific Northwest based artist creating narrative photography and documenting contemporary society and the landscape around him. A major creative inspiration evolved from his internship with design firm Old Dirty Design in Marseille, France in 2013 where he began experimenting with color and form. Sanchez has been displayed at the Russell Day Gallery, The Schack, Imperial Valley Kayak Club in El Centro and the Carmen Durazo Cultural Arts Center in Calexico, CA.
