About the Art
Altered is a set of cedar woven candles holding the four sacred medicines. The candles together make up an altar to reference a Catholic altar. Raised in the Catholic church and by her Indigenous culture, Guyett’s Altered is a reflection of existing in both worlds. Guyett and Pettibon have their work showing together as a unified piece.
