Bat Night and Outdoor Movie

  • Indigenous Creatives Collective 9674 51st Ave S Seattle United States (map)

Join us on August 30th from 7-10 PM for a family-friendly bat night with a special backyard movie screening!

We will be exploring the land as we try to spot and collect data on local bats during a guided observation. @batsnorthwest will help us to learn about the vital ecological roles bats play and the work they do to help them stick around.

Did you know that bats hold significant and diverse symbolic meanings in indigenous cultures worldwide, often associated with the night, intuition, and the spiritual realm? Some people may think bats are scary, but they are actually pretty cute and very much harmless. Plus, they eat up all the mosquitoes!

Come for the crafts, the observation, or the movie! Here is the schedule so you can plan ahead:

  • 7:00 — Crafts and Snacks

  • 7:15 — Bat Talk with Community Science Instructions

  • 7:55 — 30-Minute Bat Observation and Count

  • 8:30 — Movie Screening

  • 10:00 — EVENT Ends
