Opportunity
Come create with us on the land! Indigenous Creatives Collective is seeking temporary outdoor art installations for our 2 acre South Seattle site for the 2026 calendar year. Artists from our roster are invited to submit proposals and request funding for projects at a minimum of $1,500 up to $5,000
Eligibility
Open to artists on our Indigenous Creatives Roster. If you are not on the roster, apply at https://yehawshow.com/apply.
Must be 16 years of age or older
Guidelines
Artists are required to pay themselves as part of their project budget. We recommend paying yourself at least 20% for design time, then more for time spent fabricating the work and installing it. Please don’t forget to set aside additional funds for taxes, and travel if applicable.
These are small budgets, intended to support short-term or performative experimental projects, please scale your proposal appropriately. If you would like help budgeting or brainstorming project ideas please contact us. Examples to give you an idea of what might be achievable for a few thousand dollars include - building a stick fort, googly eyes on trees, wheat pasted posters, small plywood murals, etc.
New or existing work is welcome. Installations should feel site-specific or responsive to the land in the way they are displayed.
Performance artworks are welcome, but they should result in some kind of physical object or trace on the land that lasts longer than the performance itself.
Artists are responsible for delivering and installing their own work, as well as deinstallation. Artworks should be up on site for no more than 3 months.
Outdoor space comes with inherent risk to art from weather exposure, or harm caused by people and animals. Please consider the potential for damage, loss, or theft of artwork when planning your proposal.
Artists hoping to display a 2D piece can apply to use our Forest Gallery. This outdoor kiosk has a 12 x 18” viewing window, and locking door. The set budget for using the Forest Gallery space is $1,500.
Half of the awarded project funds will be paid when a contract is signed, the final half of funds will be paid after the project is installed.
Application Process and Timeline
Complete the short application form linked above. We are currently accepting proposals for the 2026 calendar year, March-November, and will work with artists to determine their preferred installation timing. We accept applications on a rolling basis, with quarterly reviews at the end of February, May, August, and November, with notifications sent early the following month. Our staff team reviews proposals, and we hope to fund as many projects as our budget allows, with a goal of 4 per season.
